How to turn curly hair straight

Whether your hair is slightly wavy or very curly, follow these instructions to achieve beautifully straight, smooth hair.

1. Start at the base of the head by taking a fine section of dry hair.
2. Spray a light mist of a heat protector onto the section and comb through.
3. Place the GHD Hair Straightener as close to the root as possible and slowly glide down the section without stopping.
4. Repeat this process with each section of hair gliding once from root to ends.

How to create texture and movement in your hair

1. Start at the nape of the neck and work with one inch square sections.
2. Spray a light mist of GHD iron oil onto the section.
3. Wind the first layer of dry hair around the lower arm of the GHD hair straightener to the mid lengths.
4. Close over the iron and work out to the ends and then roll the iron back towards the root.
5. Working with the next layer, alternate the direction of the movement by winding each section in this layer around the upper arm of the styling iron.
6. Continue this technique alternating direction with each new layer of hair.
7. Be careful not to wind hair too close to the root throughout the top section.

How to turn straight hair curly

Here’s how you turn straight hair into glossy spiral curls with the GHD Hair Straightener

1. Starting at the crown, take a small section of dry hair and spray with a light mist of setting spray.
2. Wind this section around your finger to the ends of the hair. Use the thumb and index finger of your other hand to hold the section in place.
3. As you ease out your finger feed the section of hair into the iron and hold for 5 to 10 seconds to create glossy, spiral curls.
4. Repeat this process with other small sections of hair.
5. For a longer lasting curl secure each section with a hairpin. Once each section is secured take out the pins and release the curl.

How to create flicks, kicks and texture

1. Starting at the sides, simply take a fine section of hair and glide the GHD Hair Straightener from root to ends.
2. Spray a light mist of setting spray onto the section.
3. As you work towards the end lift the hair straightener up and out without stopping to create a contemporary flick.
4. Repeat in this manner throughout the head.
5. To give the look an alternative feel, pick sections at random, push upwards and press the iron into the mid lengths.

There is a big difference between Australian GHD’s and cheaper UK imports. Australian GHD’s are covered for repairs in this country under a 2 year warranty - imports are not!!! Australian GHD’s have our 240 volt plug - imports have non compliant wiring/electronics, therefore have to used with adaptors, and thus don’t meet Australian safety standards. I have had many hair straightener in the past - all supermarket brought before I invested in the GHD. Lets just say there is absolutely no comparison between the GHD and the store brought ones – it’s the best straightener I have ever used and will never look back. With its quick heat up and great results I can’t believe I waited so long. Now I take it everywhere with me including my overseas trips!

I am a hairdresser and have used this product it worked well, although found it to be nothing special I have used other professional straighter brands and have achieved the same results, in some cases better. Summing up it does the job but think it's over rated .




Best Straightener

I have naturally wavy hair and went through a frustrating time of going through cheap/er straighteners that either weren't powerful enough or damaged my hair significantly. My purchase of a GHD has been the best investment in a hair styling tool I have ever made. Not only can you straighten hair, you can curl it, with practice, so you essentially have two styling tools in one.

I have had my GHD for two years and it is still functioning optimally. It is very reliable.

It takes about 10 seconds to reach its maximum temperature, which is a great time-saver. However, GHD straighteners do not have temperature selection. This was not a problem for me as I think it the temperature is more than enough.

I still get split and broken ends when I use my GHD, but not as much as I would have gotten from the cheap/er straighteners of the past.
