Best Workout Hairstyles (That Are Chic Too!)

Regular exercise is a must to stay healthy and fit. You need to put in a few hours each day to sweat it out as it is key to staying healthy. However, it is important to keep your hair off your face while exercising for a number of reasons. The most obvious benefit of securing your hair is the ability to focus on the workout rather than having to constantly fix your hair. But a more important benefit is to keep your hair from getting in contact with sweat. This will ensure that your hair feels soft and looks beautiful even after a rigorous workout.

To help you pick the best hairstyle to sport during your workout, and still look chic, here are some of the top hairstyles for you to choose from.

Bun

This is the perfect choice for exercises that involve the use of mats. Since you will be lying down, ponytails or low braids can still get in the way. With a bun, you will have no problem lying down to perform your exercise routine without being constantly annoyed by the back head bump.

This hairstyle is very easy to do but you can change it up by spraying a light hold hairspray onto your hair before gathering it into a ponytail. Bring the hair together on the crown area. Tie it together with an elastic band and wrap the ends together to form a knot. Take out another elastic tie to secure the bun. If there are loose ends, use bobby pins to secure them in place.

Braided Top Knot

Stop dealing with those annoying ponytail because a braided top knot is your best bet to securing your hair during workout. This will also keep smaller hairs off your face.

To create the braided top knot, pull your hair together into a high ponytail. Use clear elastic to mildly secure the strands. Then, start braiding the ponytail and seal it again with elastic band. Tightly wrap the braid to keep ends from falling off. You can use bobby pins to keep small hair sections from slipping.

Ponytail

This is the hairstyle of choice for most women who like to perform a low intensity workout. This is also a great alternative if you do not like putting your hair up in a bun (or for women whose hair are not too long to be gathered together in a knot or bun). Simply brush your hair to smooth out the edges and make sure there are no loose ends. Then, gather them at the back of the nape or around the back of the head. Use an elastic band to tie the hair and keep it off your face.

Side Fishtail Braid

Are you looking for another chic way to conceal your hair and its loose strands? Try out a side fishtail braid. Make sure to tighten it though to ensure that it does not fall out easily especially when you are highly active.

Start the braiding around the nape of your neck so it is more secure. First off, you must brush your hair to ensure that every strand is well behaved. Then, create a side part (you can choose which side you’d like to braid to fall into) and form a low ponytail. Secure the section with an elastic tie. Separate the tied section into two and start weaving it from left to right until you had finished braiding. Secure the ends of the hair with an elastic tie.

Headband

Make sure that the head band is thick enough to hold off hair, even longer layers. This is a very effective trick when dealing with baby hair, especially along the hairline, as it keeps them from falling on your face as you work out. You can also find ones made from cotton material, which effectively absorbs moisture so you won’t be dealing with sweat dropping from your forehead to your face.

What is your hairstyle of choice when exercising or working out?
