I have been using Nioxin for a number of years on and off, first put on to it by a hairdresser following cancer treatment, which resulted in significant hair loss.
My hair always feels cleaner and fresher, with noticeable requirements for a haircut every couple of months now. I used only get a trim once a year.
Nioxin is a great product, which I highly recommend. I too got the red rash, but speaking to my hairdresser, she advised me that a decrease in blood flow to the scalp is linked to causing hair thinning, therefore; the NIOXIN Scalp & Hair Treatment has a vasodilator in it to increase blood flow to the scalp. This redness is temporary and completely normal.
