Ingredients

DunGud Concrete Jungle - Matte Clay Ingredients

Aqua/water, Cera Alba / Beeswax, Kaolin, Vp/va Copolymer, Petrolatum, Oleth-5, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Copernicia, Cerifera Wax, Pvp, Silica, Parfum/fragrance

Aqua Solvents

Solvent

The water base that carries and dissolves the other ingredients in most products.

May suit
All hair and skin types.

Worth knowing
Almost always the first ingredient listed in water-based products.
Kaolin Thickeners and stabilisers

Absorbent mineral clay

Kaolin is a fine white clay used to absorb excess oil and provide gentle cleansing or texture in haircare products.

May suit
Those with oily scalps or those using styling products that benefit from a matte, volumising effect.

Worth knowing
Kaolin is a naturally occurring clay that can help improve product texture while offering mild cleansing without stripping. It is commonly used in scalp treatments, masks and texturising products.
VP/VA Copolymer Thickeners and stabilisers

Film-forming styling polymer

A film-forming polymer that helps provide hold, texture and style retention.

May suit
People looking for longer-lasting hold or improved definition in styling products.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in gels, mousses and sprays because it creates flexible, brushable hold. It can also help reduce frizz by forming a lightweight coating on the hair.
Petrolatum Oils and butters

Occlusive moisturiser

Petrolatum forms a protective barrier that helps lock in moisture and smooth the hair and scalp.

May suit
Those with very dry, fragile or textured hair that benefits from strong moisture retention.

Worth knowing
It is highly refined for cosmetic use and is valued for its ability to reduce moisture loss. Because it is heavy, it is usually used in small amounts or in targeted treatments.
Oleth-5 Cleansers / surfactants

Emulsifier / solubiliser

A non-ionic surfactant that helps blend oil and water and lightly cleanses.

May suit
People looking for smoothly blended formulas or mild cleansing in shampoos and styling products.

Worth knowing
Oleth-5 is commonly used to solubilise oils and improve product texture. It also supports even distribution of conditioning ingredients.
PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate Cleansers / surfactants

Mild surfactant and emollient

A gentle, non-ionic surfactant that also adds light softness and slip to hair.

May suit
Those looking for mild cleansing with a smoother, less stripped feel.

Worth knowing
It is often included to make cleansing formulas feel more conditioning and to help solubilise oils or fragrances. It pairs well with stronger surfactants to create a more balanced wash.
PVP Thickeners and stabilisers

Film-forming polymer

PVP is a film-forming ingredient that helps provide hold and structure in styling products.

May suit
Anyone looking for longer-lasting hold, enhanced definition or improved style memory.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in gels, mousses and sprays because it creates a flexible film on the hair shaft. Its performance can vary with humidity, so it is often blended with other polymers for stability.
Silica Thickeners and stabilisers

Absorbent and texturising agent

Silica helps control oil, improve texture and provide slip in haircare formulas.

May suit
Those using styling or dry-finish products that benefit from a lightweight, matte feel.

Worth knowing
It is a common mineral ingredient used to enhance spreadability and stabilise product textures. It appears in a wide range of hair and styling products for its versatility.
