Description

Redken Powder Grip is a mattifying hair powder that builds instant root lift and lasting grip.

This lightweight powder slips onto the hair, giving it a soft, velvety texture that feels fuller without feeling sticky or stiff. A small amount at the roots helps fine or flat hair look lifted, slightly roughed-up, and easier to style.

It’s ideal for those who want tousled volume, braids that hold, or up-dos that stay put all day. Use it on dry hair whenever your style needs extra height, texture, or grip.

Hair feels airy, pliable, and easy to reshape with your fingers, while the matte finish keeps things looking natural and effortless, not shiny or weighed down.

Directions

How To Use Redken Powder Grip

Start on clean, dry hair.
Shake a small amount of powder into your palm or directly at the roots.
Lift sections of hair and lightly sprinkle where you want volume or grip.
Massage with fingertips to activate texture and remove any visible powder.
Add more in tiny amounts until you reach your desired fullness.
Restyle with your fingers during the day by gently scrunching the roots.

Silica Silylate Thickeners and stabilisers

Texture and stabilising agent

Helps thicken formulas and improve grip or texture in styling products.

May suit
People who like matte, volumising or texturising finishes in hair styling.

Worth knowing
It is a treated form of silica that enhances spreadability and helps products stay uniform. Commonly used in dry shampoos, pastes and sprays for added hold.
Tapioca Starch Thickeners and stabilisers

Absorbent / texturiser

Tapioca Starch is a plant-derived powder used to thicken formulas and add soft, lightweight texture.

May suit
Those who prefer lightweight, non-greasy styling or absorbent ingredients, including in dry shampoos or texture sprays.

Worth knowing
It helps reduce excess oil and improves the feel of products without heaviness. It is commonly used in both haircare and skincare for its smooth, silky finish.
VP/VA Copolymer Thickeners and stabilisers

Film-forming styling polymer

A film-forming polymer that helps provide hold, texture and style retention.

May suit
People looking for longer-lasting hold or improved definition in styling products.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in gels, mousses and sprays because it creates flexible, brushable hold. It can also help reduce frizz by forming a lightweight coating on the hair.
Aqua Solvents

Solvent

The water base that carries and dissolves the other ingredients in most products.

May suit
All hair and skin types.

Worth knowing
Almost always the first ingredient listed in water-based products.
Hydroxyethylcellulose Thickeners and stabilisers

Thickener and stabiliser

A polymer that helps thicken and stabilise haircare formulas.

May suit
Those who prefer products with a smooth, uniform texture or need easier application and distribution.

Worth knowing
It is derived from cellulose and is widely used because it provides viscosity without weighing hair down. It also helps improve the feel and spreadability of many water-based products.
Citric Acid pH adjusters

pH adjuster

Fine-tunes the product pH, which can help the hair surface feel smooth.

May suit
Most hair types as part of a balanced formula.

Worth knowing
Usually present in small amounts to balance the formula.
Sodium Benzoate Preservatives

Preservative

Helps protect water-based products from spoilage so they stay usable.

May suit
All products that need a preservative system.

Worth knowing
Often paired with other preservatives for broad protection.
Benzyl Salicylate Fragrance ingredients

Fragrance component

Benzyl Salicylate is a fragrance ingredient used to add a sweet, floral aroma to haircare products.

May suit
Those who enjoy subtly floral-scented haircare or are monitoring specific fragrance allergens.

Worth knowing
It is one of the fragrance allergens that must be listed individually on product labels when present above certain levels. Its presence does not indicate product strength or quality, only that it contributes to the overall scent profile.
Limonene Fragrance ingredients

Fragrance component

A fragrance component that also occurs naturally in many citrus and plant oils.

Worth knowing
A fragrance component that must be listed separately on labels because a minority of people can be sensitive to it. Its presence is normal, required disclosure and is not a quality signal.
Linalool Fragrance ingredients

Fragrance component

A fragrance component found naturally in many flowers and spices.

Worth knowing
A fragrance component that must be listed separately on labels because a minority of people can be sensitive to it. Its presence is normal, required disclosure and is not a quality signal.
