Description

Muk Fat Muk Volumising Blowout Mousse is a lightweight styling foam that builds bold, lasting volume.

This mousse lifts hair from the roots, adds thickness along the lengths, and helps your blow-dry hold its shape. The airy foam spreads easily through damp hair, coating each strand without feeling sticky or heavy.

Hair feels soft yet grippy, with a satin, brushable finish and controlled movement. It’s ideal for fine or flat hair, or whenever you want fuller, bouncier styles that stay in place.

Use it before blow-drying for extra body, shape, and frizz control. The scent is salon-fresh and clean, leaving hair smelling just-washed while your style looks plump and alive.

Water (Aqua) Solvents

Solvent

Water acts as the main solvent that dissolves and distributes other ingredients in a formula.

May suit
Anyone using liquid haircare products, as water is a core component.

Worth knowing
It helps create a workable texture and allows surfactants, conditioners and other actives to perform effectively.
VP/VA Copolymer Thickeners and stabilisers

Film-forming styling polymer

A film-forming polymer that helps provide hold, texture and style retention.

May suit
People looking for longer-lasting hold or improved definition in styling products.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in gels, mousses and sprays because it creates flexible, brushable hold. It can also help reduce frizz by forming a lightweight coating on the hair.
Polyquaternium-11 Conditioning agents

Film-forming conditioner

A film-forming polymer that helps smooth, condition and lightly hold the hair.

May suit
People looking for improved manageability, frizz control or soft styling hold.

Worth knowing
It is commonly used in both shampoos and styling products because it enhances slip and helps hair feel smoother. It can also support curl definition and reduce static.
PVP Thickeners and stabilisers

Film-forming polymer

PVP is a film-forming ingredient that helps provide hold and structure in styling products.

May suit
Anyone looking for longer-lasting hold, enhanced definition or improved style memory.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in gels, mousses and sprays because it creates a flexible film on the hair shaft. Its performance can vary with humidity, so it is often blended with other polymers for stability.
Propylene Glycol Humectants

Humectant

Helps hold moisture and carry other ingredients through the formula.

May suit
Most hair types as part of a moisturising formula.

Worth knowing
A widely used humectant and carrier ingredient.
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Cleansers / surfactants

Solubiliser and emulsifier

Helps blend oils and fragrance into water-based formulas for even texture and performance.

May suit
Useful for those who prefer haircare products with clear, consistent textures or evenly dispersed fragrance and oils.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in shampoos, conditioners and styling products to keep formulations stable and smooth. It also offers mild surfactant properties that support product rinse-off.
Polysorbate 20 Thickeners and stabilisers

Solubiliser / emulsifier

Helps blend oil‑based ingredients into water‑based formulas for a smooth, even texture.

May suit
Those using products with essential oils or fragranced blends, as it helps disperse these evenly.

Worth knowing
It is widely used as a gentle solubiliser in both leave‑in and rinse‑off products. Its presence can improve product consistency and prevent ingredient separation.
Panthenol Conditioning agents

Conditioning agent

Helps condition, soften and add a smooth, healthy feel to the hair.

May suit
Most hair types, especially dry or dull hair.

Worth knowing
A versatile, well-tolerated conditioning ingredient.
Hydrolysed Wheat Protein Proteins and amino acids

Hair-strengthening protein

A protein derivative that helps reinforce the hair shaft and improve softness and manageability.

May suit
Those seeking added strength, light conditioning, or improved elasticity in their hair.

Worth knowing
It provides a lightweight form of protein that can help support the hair’s structure without heavy build-up. Many formulations use it to enhance overall feel and resilience.
PEG-12 Dimethicone Silicones

Silicone-based conditioning agent

A water-dispersible silicone that helps soften hair, add slip and reduce frizz.

May suit
People looking for smoother, easier-to-detangle hair without a heavy silicone feel.

Worth knowing
Because it is water-dispersible, it tends to rinse out more easily than many traditional silicones. It is commonly used in both rinse-off and leave-in formulas for added manageability.
Phenoxyethanol Preservatives

Preservative

Helps keep the product stable and pleasant to use after opening.

May suit
All products that need protecting from spoilage.

Worth knowing
A very common, well-studied preservative used at low levels.
Ethylhexylglycerin Preservatives

Preservative booster

Helps support the preservation system and can provide mild skin-conditioning benefits.

May suit
Those interested in gentle preservation systems or sensitive scalps may find it relevant.

Worth knowing
It is often paired with other preservatives to improve their effectiveness while allowing for lower usage levels. It also has light moisturising and conditioning properties.
Parfum Fragrance ingredients

Fragrance

Gives the product its scent.

May suit
People who enjoy a scented product.

Worth knowing
Fragrance preference is personal. Some people prefer fragrance-free formulas by choice.
Citric Acid pH adjusters

pH adjuster

Fine-tunes the product pH, which can help the hair surface feel smooth.

May suit
Most hair types as part of a balanced formula.

Worth knowing
Usually present in small amounts to balance the formula.

Unfortunately, this mousse comes out of the can like a soupy mousse. It's more liquid than foam. I won't buy it again.

This mousse is VERY strong. You will need to use a brush and your hairdryer to get the best effect, otherwise it just makes your hair stiff. I am still experimenting with it.

Best ever stying product. Not brittle or greasy.
