Why you’ll love it

Turn flat, floppy hair into defined texture you can restyle all day.
Creates piecey, separated strands without crunch or visible residue.
Adds gentle grip so fine hair feels thicker and easier to shape.
Low-shine finish keeps styles looking natural, not stiff or overdone.

Benefits

Low to medium shine Adds texture

Description

Redken Texture Paste is a workable styling paste that builds touchable texture with lasting, flexible hold.

This soft, creamy paste glides through hair easily, giving definition without stiffness or flaking. It dries to a natural, low-shine finish, so hair looks styled but never greasy or crunchy.

Ideal for short to medium lengths, layers, fringes, and piecey styles you want to shape and reshape. Use it on dry hair in the morning, or to revive flat, second-day hair with instant grip.

Hair feels thicker, more controlled, and easier to mould with your fingers. You get that lived-in, effortless finish that still looks smart, whether you’re at work, out for the evening, or on the go.

Directions

How To Use Redken Texture Paste

Start with dry or slightly damp hair.
Rub a pea-sized amount between your palms until clear.
Work through hair, focusing on mid-lengths, ends, or fringe.
Twist, pinch, or scrunch sections to build texture and shape.
Add a little more if needed; layer slowly to avoid build-up.

Aqua Solvents

Solvent

The water base that carries and dissolves the other ingredients in most products.

May suit
All hair and skin types.

Worth knowing
Almost always the first ingredient listed in water-based products.
Petrolatum Oils and butters

Occlusive moisturiser

Petrolatum forms a protective barrier that helps lock in moisture and smooth the hair and scalp.

May suit
Those with very dry, fragile or textured hair that benefits from strong moisture retention.

Worth knowing
It is highly refined for cosmetic use and is valued for its ability to reduce moisture loss. Because it is heavy, it is usually used in small amounts or in targeted treatments.
Cera Alba (Beeswax) Thickeners and stabilisers

Thickener and styling aide

A natural wax used to thicken formulas and provide light hold and conditioning.

May suit
People looking for products that add gentle control, smoothness or texture.

Worth knowing
Beeswax can help lock in moisture and give hair a soft, pliable finish. It is commonly used in balms, pomades and creams for shape and definition.
VP/VA Copolymer Thickeners and stabilisers

Film-forming styling polymer

A film-forming polymer that helps provide hold, texture and style retention.

May suit
People looking for longer-lasting hold or improved definition in styling products.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in gels, mousses and sprays because it creates flexible, brushable hold. It can also help reduce frizz by forming a lightweight coating on the hair.
Butylene Glycol Humectants

Humectant and solvent

Butylene Glycol helps attract and hold moisture while improving the spreadability of hair products.

May suit
Those looking for hydrated, smoother-feeling hair or lighter-feeling formulations.

Worth knowing
It is commonly used to help ingredients dissolve and to give formulas a soft, glide-on texture. It appears in many leave-in and rinse-off products due to its versatility.
Lanolin Alcohol Conditioning agents

Emollient & conditioning agent

Lanolin Alcohol helps soften and condition hair while adding smoothness and slip.

May suit
Those seeking added softness, manageability or moisture support, especially for dry or coarse hair.

Worth knowing
It is derived from lanolin and contains a mix of fatty alcohols that help improve texture and feel. It is generally well tolerated, though those avoiding wool‑derived ingredients may wish to note its origin.
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Cleansers / surfactants

Solubiliser and emulsifier

Helps blend oils and fragrance into water-based formulas for even texture and performance.

May suit
Useful for those who prefer haircare products with clear, consistent textures or evenly dispersed fragrance and oils.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in shampoos, conditioners and styling products to keep formulations stable and smooth. It also offers mild surfactant properties that support product rinse-off.
PVP Thickeners and stabilisers

Film-forming polymer

PVP is a film-forming ingredient that helps provide hold and structure in styling products.

May suit
Anyone looking for longer-lasting hold, enhanced definition or improved style memory.

Worth knowing
It is widely used in gels, mousses and sprays because it creates a flexible film on the hair shaft. Its performance can vary with humidity, so it is often blended with other polymers for stability.
Mineral Oil Oils and butters

Emollient / occlusive

Helps smooth and coat the hair by forming a lightweight protective layer.

May suit
People looking to reduce moisture loss, add slip, or tame frizz.

Worth knowing
Mineral oil is a highly refined cosmetic-grade ingredient valued for its stability and ability to lock in moisture. It is commonly used in hair treatments and styling products for added softness and shine.
PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate Cleansers / surfactants

Mild surfactant and emollient

A gentle, non-ionic surfactant that also adds light softness and slip to hair.

May suit
Those looking for mild cleansing with a smoother, less stripped feel.

Worth knowing
It is often included to make cleansing formulas feel more conditioning and to help solubilise oils or fragrances. It pairs well with stronger surfactants to create a more balanced wash.
Parfum Fragrance ingredients

Fragrance

Gives the product its scent.

May suit
People who enjoy a scented product.

Worth knowing
Fragrance preference is personal. Some people prefer fragrance-free formulas by choice.
Citric Acid pH adjusters

pH adjuster

Fine-tunes the product pH, which can help the hair surface feel smooth.

May suit
Most hair types as part of a balanced formula.

Worth knowing
Usually present in small amounts to balance the formula.
Preservatives Preservatives

Product preservation

Preservatives help keep haircare formulas stable and usable by preventing microbial growth.

May suit
Anyone who wants their products to remain fresh and effective throughout their shelf life.

Worth knowing
Preservatives are a standard part of most water-based formulas and support product safety and longevity. Different systems are used depending on the texture and packaging of the product.
