How do you use hairspray?

Hairspray is a staple in styling routines for all hair types and textures. Whether you're after volume, hold, smoothness or shine, there’s a formula for you—think regular hairspray, flexible hold, strong hold, non-aerosol, wax sprays and even moisturising mist varieties.

The way you use hairspray depends on your hair goal. To smooth flyaways, spray a small amount onto your fingertips and gently pat over the surface. For setting a full style like a bun, updo or loose waves, hold the can around 30cm away and spray evenly.

To boost volume in fine hair, try flipping your hair upside down and spraying the roots section by section. A product like a Volumising hairspray can help create lift and hold without weighing your strands down.

When working with curls, apply hairspray to each section after curling to maintain shape without clumping. You can also mist a brush with hairspray and gently run it through your curls for a softer finish.

How do you curl hair using hairspray?

To create long-lasting curls, prep your hair with a Heat Protection spray. Once dry, lightly mist your hair with a styling hairspray before curling—this helps the curl set more effectively.

After curling each section with your preferred styling tool, spritz the curl while it’s still warm. Once cooled, apply a Hair Texturizers product to finish with volume and definition.

How do you straighten hair using hairspray?

Before straightening, always apply a Heat Protection spray to avoid damage. After styling, finish with a Finishing Spray designed to fight frizz and humidity.

Some hairsprays also pair well with Leave-In Conditioner for smoother results. Look for anti-humidity options that won’t leave your hair stiff or sticky.

When should you use hairspray?

You can use hairspray both during and after styling. During styling, it helps build body, define curls and enhance texture. After styling, it sets the hair in place and locks in your look.
